Offering residents and visitors the largest shopping complex between Seattle and the Pacific Ocean, Silverdale has a thriving economic base. The Kitsap Mall offers shoppers nearly every imaginable national and regional retailer and a wide array of restaurants and other services. Beyond its retail development, Silverdale’s economy also flourishes due to the government and military related businesses associated with the Bangor Submarine Base and Keyport Naval Station. Add in Harrison Hospital and its large medical complex for emergency, mother/baby care and rehabilitation services and Silverdale is an increasingly attractive community to call home.
But it’s not all business in Silverdale, as residents have the opportunity to regularly explore Old Town Silverdale, a quaint community located on the waterfront with lots of specialty shops, art galleries and cafes that offer splendid views of the Olympic Mountains and the impressive Mt. Rainier. The scenic Clear Creek Trail, which meanders through Silverdale, offers a way for residents to further enjoy the area’s natural beauty.
The waterfront park, located on north shore of Dyes Inlet, includes a marina, boat ramp, restaurants, picnic spots, playgrounds and a boardwalk that are perfect for appreciating time with family and friends. Dyes Inlet also hosts the annual Whaling Days, with festivities that include a road race, parade, fireworks and hydroplane races. The Silverdale Rotary Club Rubber Duck Race, a fundraiser for Whaling Days, where the toy ducks are released and the first to cross the finish line lands its owner an amazing prize.
