 | Prowse & Company Community Involvement |
 |
|
Prowse and Company supports a wide variety of community events on a continuing basis. We believe that it is important that the members of our team be involved in the community. Brenda Prowse was a finalist for the 2008 Kitsap County Association of Realtors Jenks Beard Award, given for community service. Here are some examples of the organizations and events we have supported.

Poulsbo Centennial Celebration
Prowse and Company was one of the sponsors for “Dance of the Decades Street Dance” held as part of the Poulsbo’s Centennial Celebration for 2008. The Street Dance was held downtown on Front Street from 7 to 11 p.m. on August 16th. This was a great community event featuring several live bands and displays by the Poulsbo Historical Society in some of the downtown shop windows. The City of Poulsbo is celebrating 100 years of civic service in 2008! Poulsbo was officially declared a town and held its first Council meeting on January 7, 1908.
Patron Member of the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce
Prowse and Company strongly supports the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce as a Patron Member. The Chamber was organized more than 50 years ago and serves the role of promoting member businesses and ensuring a healthy business climate in Poulsbo. The Chamber helps to facilitate communications and foster good relations between business and government. Brenda Prowse was President of the Poulsbo Chamber in 2002 and was selected as the Chamber’s Person of the Year in 2004. Hugh Nelson was selected for one of the Chamber’s Community Builder Awards in 2005.
Poulsbo Rotary Club
Hugh Nelson has been a member of the Poulsbo Rotary Club since 2001 and served as President in 2005-2006. Prowse and Company has supported the Rotary Club and its many community and international projects both through financial contributions and by volunteering for fundraising, committees, and on work projects. The Rotary Club is a vital component in our community and supports many projects and activities, including college scholarships for North Kitsap High students, community parks and recreation projects, Rotary Youth Exchange programs, education and programs to alleviate domestic violence, international projects in numerous countries, and a host of other community based organizations and activities.
Poulsbo Noon Lions Club
Over the past 8 years Prowse and Company has donated over $10,000 to the Poulsbo Lions Club in support of projects of their members who are also our clients! We are happy to have supported such projects as Lion’s Park playground equipment renovations, renovations to the board walk on Poulsbo’s waterfront, Camp Leo, the Leo Club at North Kitsap High, and traditional Lions projects involving sight, hearing, and diabetes prevention and control.
Other Organizations
Just to name a few recent examples, Prowse and Company worked with Olympic Printer Resources to sponsor two community electronic recycling events, donated over $2500 to Martha and Mary in support of their horticulture therapy and children’s enrichment programs, donated to and sponsored a scholarship for the Miss Poulsbo/Miss Kitsap Scholarship Organization, provided seed money in support of the local area Lions Clubs in their sponsorship of the construction of a Habitat for Humanity house at Bremerton’s New Hope Project. Noelle Osborn serves on the Board of Directors for the Cultural Arts Foundation Northwest, and is very active in benefits and events promoting the arts in Kitsap County.
